In a harrowing incident along the Ijebu Ode-Ore-Benin City expressway, armed robbers launched an assault on a 59-seater luxury bus operated by Ifesinachi Transport Ltd, leaving passengers traumatized as they set the vehicle ablaze.

Reports indicate that the attack occurred at the Ogun State segment of the expressway, plunging passengers into a nightmarish ordeal as they were accosted by the bandits, who plundered their belongings before torching the bus.

A video uploaded on social media platform X by influencer Chude Nnamdi captured the distressing accounts of some of the affected passengers, detailing their terrifying encounter with the assailants.

Many of the passengers, en route to the southeast region to celebrate Easter, recounted their narrow escape from the inferno, emphasizing that while no fatalities were reported, they endured a frantic struggle to flee the engulfed vehicle.

One passenger recounted, "Ifesinachi Motors, we were travelling in the night to come back to the East for Easter celebration, and criminals attacked us in Ijebu Ode along Ore/Benin expressway."

“They robbed us of everything we had, some they stripped half-naked. They locked us inside the 59-seater luxury bus and set it ablaze. We thank God that we later escaped; nobody died but everything we had was collected."

Another passenger lamented the severity of the attack, highlighting the injuries sustained by some passengers, including machete wounds and broken limbs.

Despite attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Odutola Omolola, for comment, no response was received, leaving unanswered questions regarding the security response to the alarming incident.

The brazen attack underscores the pressing need for enhanced security measures along major transportation routes to safeguard travelers and curb the menace of criminal activities plaguing the region.
