Tragedy struck along the Biu-Buratai-Buni Yadi road as a military vehicle, transporting a Lieutenant (whose identity remains undisclosed) and fellow soldiers, fell prey to a Boko Haram ambush.

The incident, which unfolded on Thursday evening, highlighted the ongoing dangers posed by insurgent activities in the region, turning the road into a perilous corridor fraught with peril.

According to reliable sources, the ambush resulted in the untimely demise of the Lieutenant Officer, a driver, gunner, and four other soldiers, underscoring the lethal nature of the assault.

While unconfirmed reports suggest a retaliatory exchange of gunfire led to casualties among the assailants near Kamuya village, just a short distance from Buratai, the hometown of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Retired), the toll on the military ranks remains a sobering reminder of the ongoing threat posed by insurgent groups.

A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the harrowing development to our Correspondent on Saturday, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the ambush.

"Yes, based on the situation report, soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai were ambushed by terrorists on their way to Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, to buy fuel," the source stated grimly. "Unfortunately, one officer, along with a driver, gunner, and four other escorts, lost their lives in the attack."

As the nation grapples with the ramifications of this latest assault, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in their efforts to combat insurgency and restore peace and stability to the region.

It sounds like a reprisal attack for what happened in OKUOMA in Delta state. Wait until the identities of victims are made public.
We have not heard of invasion of the community by the Nigerian soldiers. Nor the Defense Headquarters declaring OPERATION CLEARANCE . A clear contrast to the senseless invasion of OKUOMA community in Delta state.
