A tragic incident unfolded outside the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday, April 7, resulting in the fatal stabbing of a Nigerian man, Okechukwu Iweha.

According to reports, police and paramedics rushed to Northumberland Park, located on the outskirts of the stadium, just before 6 a.m. following reports of a stabbing. They found Mr. Iweha, 46, with multiple stab wounds. Despite resuscitation attempts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Late last night, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the victim was believed to be Mr. Iweha, a resident of the local area. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialized officers. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at Haringey Mortuary later this week.

Detectives, led by Detective Chief Inspector Neil John from the Specialist Crime Command, are urging witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation. DCI John emphasized the importance of any information, no matter how small, in piecing together the events leading to the tragic incident.

Tottenham's Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest proceeded as scheduled, albeit with road closures in the vicinity. Spurs management assured fans that they were cooperating fully with the investigation and urged patience from supporters due to the ongoing police activity.

DCI John reiterated the commitment of law enforcement to uncovering the truth and bringing those responsible for the murder to justice, expressing condolences to the grieving family and seeking closure for their loss.
