Outrage in Nollywood: Actor Prince Eke Blasts Colleague For Sharing Disturbing Video of Junior Pope's Demise

In a recent surge of controversy within the Nigerian film industry, actor Prince Eke has publicly condemned fellow actor Jerry Amilo following the latter's decision to post a highly sensitive video on social media. The video in question, which was shared on Jerry Amilo's Facebook page, depicted the lifeless body of renowned actor John Paul Odonwodo, famously known as Junior Pope, in a hospital setting.

The incident arose after Junior Pope was pronounced deceased, with Jerry Amilo, accompanied by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Emeka Ike, present at the hospital. The contentious video showcased Odonwodo's body on a hospital bed, distressingly prepared for mortuary standards, with cotton wool inserted into his nostrils and ears.

Prince Eke's response was swift and severe. Through a statement, he expressed his disbelief and anger towards Amilo's actions, labeling them as "senseless and stupid." Eke articulated his concern over the potential long-term psychological impact on Junior Pope's children, who would have to contend with the visual representation of their father's lifeless body scattered across the internet.

Eke did not hold back in his critique, accusing Jerry Amilo of exploiting the death of a colleague for social media content, particularly highlighting the monetization aspect of Amilo's Facebook account. He lambasted Amilo for his lack of sensitivity and respect, calling him an "elder without sense" and a "colossal failure" for not only sharing such a personal and tragic moment but also watermarking the video, a move seen as trying to claim ownership over the content.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation within the Nollywood community and beyond about the ethics of sharing sensitive content on social media platforms, especially when it pertains to the deceased. As the industry mourns the loss of one of its own, the actions of Jerry Amilo have undoubtedly stirred a mix of emotions, prompting calls for a reflection on compassion, respect, and the boundaries of content sharing in the digital age.

It is not enough for you all to start fighting each other. Even if the whole human race died, the world will go on unfortunately. The way people grieves differs and this shouldn't separate you.
