A prominent community figure, Cajetan Nwokike, former President-General of the Amansea Development Union, was brutally murdered at his residence in Anambra State on Thursday, April 11.

The attack occurred early in the morning as Nwokike was engaged in a traditional ritual involving the breaking of kola nut. According to reports, two assailants entered his home and fatally shot him in the head, leading to his immediate death.

The incident was confirmed by Omife I., the National President of the Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State (APPAS). In a released statement, Omife I. expressed profound shock and sorrow over the sudden and violent loss of Nwokike, highlighting the severity of the attack during a peaceful morning ritual.

APPAS has called on Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, and local security agencies to intensify their efforts in investigating this crime. The association emphasized the importance of bringing those responsible to justice promptly, reflecting growing concerns over a series of violent incidents in the region.

The statement concluded with a condolence message to Nwokike's family, reassuring them of the community's support during this difficult time and affirming a commitment to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.

Nwokike's death has stirred fears among local leaders and highlighted ongoing security challenges within Anambra State.
