Betta Edu, the suspended Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Humanitarian Affairs, is reportedly confident of her imminent return to office despite an ongoing corruption probe that has already netted N30 billion in recovered funds. Edu, who has been under investigation along with Halima Shehu, the former CEO of the now-suspended National Social Investment Programme Authority (NSIPA), has reportedly told aides that she expects to be reinstated.

The investigation, led by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has placed 50 bank accounts under scrutiny and resulted in significant recoveries. EFCC's Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, highlighted the complex nature of the case and urged patience from the public as the probe continues.

Despite her suspension by President Bola Tinubu three months ago following allegations of financial malfeasance, Edu has allegedly received reassurances from close confidants of President Tinubu that she will return to her former role. This has sparked speculation, particularly as the President has yet to appoint a successor in the ministry.

The situation remains fluid as the EFCC's investigation unfolds, with both the future of Edu’s position and the integrity of the Ministry’s operations under close watch.

You are coming back my South South sister. The Yoruba are scapegoating you. They ganged up against you. Has anyone raised any doubt on how Abike Dabiri spends the funds earmarked for stranded Nigerians abroad?  Even when Air Peace offered to shoulder the responsibility of bringing the stranded Nigerians home?

You'll come back only if you're proven innocent. Guilty, and your comeback should be in jail.
