The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspect involved in the hijacking of a trailer truck loaded with 35 tons of groundnut oil, estimated to be worth around N30 million. The arrest followed a distress call about the theft received by the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters on April 12, 2024, concerning the incident at Maraban Jos trailer park in Kaduna State.
SP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesman for the Bauchi Police Command, detailed in a Sunday statement that the truck, a DAF CF 85 model, originated from Umuahia in Abia State and was en route to Kano State. The theft occurred in Kaduna when the driver paused his journey to take a bath, only to return and find the vehicle missing.
The Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State, CP Auwal Muhammad, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). This directive underscores the seriousness with which this case is being handled, given the value of the stolen goods and the breach of security.
The police assured the public that the suspect would face legal proceedings once the investigation is concluded, reinforcing their commitment to curbing criminal activities and ensuring justice in the state.
