The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the tragic demise of a prominent figure, identified as Gihan Mbelu, aged 42, who served as the chairman of the Victoria Garden City in the Lekki area of the state.

According to reports circulating on social media, the financial adviser and venture capitalist was discovered unconscious in his C300 4Matic car around 10:10 am on Friday, April 26, 2024, within the vicinity of VGC.

Concerned individuals, noticing the vehicle had been running for an extended period at the spot where it was parked, decided to investigate further. Upon closer examination, they found Mbelu inside the vehicle, unresponsive.

While some speculated that Mbelu might have been asleep, others attempted to rouse him, but their efforts proved futile. Swift action was taken to transport him to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel.

The news of Mbelu's sudden passing sent shockwaves through the community, prompting the authorities to launch a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on Saturday, April 27, acknowledging that an investigation has been initiated to unravel the mysteries surrounding Mbelu's untimely demise.

Until his unfortunate passing, Mbelu was married to Eloho, a distinguished tech entrepreneur, former investment banker, and private equity investor. The couple leaves behind two daughters.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains gripped by a sense of sorrow and anticipation, awaiting answers to the questions surrounding the tragic loss of Gihan Mbelu.
