Renowned pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, founder of David’s Christian Center and convener of the "Love, Dating and Marriage" program, has ignited controversy with his recent remarks on the appearance of believers, including tattoos, dreadlocks, and modes of dressing.

In a provocative social media post, Pastor Okonkwo criticized Christians who judge others based on their appearance, asserting that such criticisms are rooted in ignorance. He suggested that many of the things considered unholy by modern believers were actually part of Jesus's life.

“Some Christians still think dreadlocks are unholy and skin cuts are holy; they don’t know Jesus was a Nazarene and likely had long hair,” Okonkwo stated. “Some think skirts are holy for women and trousers are evil, not realizing that Jesus, being Jewish, probably wore gown-like garments.”

He continued, addressing other controversial topics within the church. “Should I talk about tattoos, lipstick, 'prosperity messages,' music, and other things that make religious people angry? Anyway, let’s major on the majors and not on the minors and stop the religious police work that no one appointed you to do.”

Pastor Okonkwo's comments have stirred significant debate on social media, with many Christians expressing disagreement. His stance challenges traditional views and highlights a growing discourse on the role of personal appearance and cultural norms in religious life.

The response has been polarized, with some supporters applauding his progressive views and others criticizing what they see as a departure from traditional Christian values.

As the discussion continues, Pastor Okonkwo's statements underscore the ongoing evolution of religious practices and beliefs in a modern context, prompting believers to re-examine long-held perceptions about faith and appearance.

In his words;

Quote
“Some Christians still think dreadlocks is unholy and skin cut is holy, they don’t know Jesus was a Nazarine and likely had long hair

Some think skirt is holy for women and trousers are evil and for men they are good, they don’t know that Jesus was Jewish and probably wore gownlike garments

Should I talk about tattoos, lipstick, “prosperity message “, music and other things that make religious people angry??

Anyway let’s major on the majors and not on the minors and stop the religious police work that no one appointed you to do.”

His statement has caused an uproar on social media, with many Christians disagreeing with his post.
