In a brutal attack, gunmen invaded Kuchi in Munyan Local Government Area of Niger State, resulting in the deaths of four members of the Military Joint Force and three villagers. The villagers were reportedly shot while attempting to escape into the bush.

Reliable sources indicate that the attackers, numbering around 300, arrived on motorcycles, each bike carrying two or three heavily armed assailants. The attack took place during a downpour around 7 pm on Friday, allowing the gunmen to operate without interference for approximately three hours.

Despite the severity of the assault, no immediate assistance reached the besieged villagers.

In a related development, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has called for the official adoption of zoning political offices across Nigeria. He argued that zoning would enhance political balance and promote peace. Highlighting Niger State's successful implementation of zoning since 1999, Abdulsalami emphasized the system's role in fostering stability and urged other states to adopt similar measures.

The former leader made these remarks during a visit from members of the Niger State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Abdulmalik Sarkindaji. Abdulsalami praised the state's commitment to zoning and encouraged its continuation for sustained peace and political stability.

The Nigerian Defense Headquarters will not talk now. The indigenes of the community are freely going about their normal businesses. No invasion and killings by the army . The killed soldiers who obviously are from the middle belt and South are dead and forgotten.  Regrettably it is the opposite when a soldier is slapped in the middle belt or South. You hear of invasion, mass killings and desertion of the communities by the indigenes. Banex plaza Abuja populated by Igbos is still shutdown because a soldier was slapped .And questions are not asked.
