The incident involving the death of Alex Timileyin, a student at Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, has drawn significant attention following a visit by Itsekiri elders on Wednesday, May 29. The delegation, led by Prince Yemi Emiko, included visits to both the hostel where Timileyin was allegedly beaten to death by his schoolmates and the morgue where his body was kept.
Concerns were raised by the delegation regarding the condition of the morgue and the state of Timileyin's body. Laju Dennis Mukoro, a member of the delegation, reported that the morgue was not functional and that Timileyin's body was the only one present. He also noted that the body had swollen and bore multiple marks of violence.
The school management has been involved in discussions with the Itsekiri leaders, but the state police command has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. The situation underscores the need for a thorough investigation to address the allegations and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Timileyin's death.
Late Timileyin was b£aten to his death in his hostel known as Shepherd Inn on the school premises on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
A video sighted that has gone viral showed the d£ceased rolling on the floor while other students were b£ating him with sticks.
The school authority have since expelled the indicted students and handed them over to the police.
