Abba Kyari, the former Deputy Commissioner of Police in Nigeria, received a warm welcome from family and friends following his release from Kuje Prison.
Kyari had been granted conditional bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja after spending approximately 27 months in detention.
The court set his bail at N50 million with stringent conditions, including providing two sureties who own property within the jurisdiction and depositing his international passport and other documents with the court registrar
Kyari's release comes after he was implicated in various criminal charges, including involvement in a drug-related offense and alleged links with the international fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi. Despite the serious charges, the court found that Kyari was not a flight risk, particularly noting his decision not to escape during a prison break at Kuje in July 2022
Kyari's family and friends celebrated his release, underscoring their support during his legal battles. However, his release is conditional and subject to the ongoing developments in his trial
