Early Saturday morning, DJ Bash was tragically killed during a robbery at Volcano, a popular nightclub in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja. The incident involved an unspecified number of assailants.

FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh reported that police were not promptly alerted about the crime, which occurred around 2:00 a.m., and were only informed at approximately 5:30 a.m., despite the nightclub's proximity to a police station.

Ms. Adeh expressed serious concerns regarding the nightclub's delay in reporting the incident, highlighting that it was an outsider who eventually notified the police hours after the robbery had concluded.

"The police were not alerted on time, but an investigation has commenced," Ms. Adeh stated on X Saturday evening.

She reassured residents that security officers are actively monitoring the situation and advised vigilance, urging the community to report any suspicious activities immediately.

"We advise residents to always be conscious of their surroundings. When you notice suspicious activity, call the police immediately, and we will respond swiftly," she emphasized.

Ms. Adeh also encouraged citizens to use the police emergency lines, stressing that the same urgency applied to social media reports should be directed towards contacting the hotlines. She pointed out that these emergency lines are monitored by multiple security outfits capable of swiftly responding to distress calls.

"Again, the FCT police distress emergency numbers are 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938," Ms. Adeh reiterated on X.
