NiMet Predicts Thunderstorms And Cloudy Skies Across Nigeria From Tuesday To Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a mix of thunderstorms and cloudiness across the country from Tuesday to Thursday. The weather outlook, released on Monday in Abuja, provides detailed predictions for various regions.

On Tuesday, morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, and Gombe states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are predicted for Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Bauchi, Katsina, and Taraba states.

"Partly cloudy conditions are expected over the central regions during the morning hours, with prospects of afternoon/evening thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kwara states," NiMet stated. The southern regions are expected to experience cloudy skies in the morning, followed by afternoon/evening rains in areas including Ondo, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Ekiti, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Lagos states.

On Wednesday, early morning thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and Kebbi states, with further thunderstorms expected later in the day in Taraba, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Bauchi, and Kaduna states. Kwara and Kogi states are predicted to have morning thunderstorms, while thunderstorms are also forecasted for the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Nasarawa states in the afternoon and evening. The southern region will see morning rains in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa states, with rains continuing across most parts of the southern region later in the day.

Thursday's forecast includes morning thunderstorms over parts of Taraba state, with additional thunderstorms expected in Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, and Kano states later in the day. The Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Nasarawa states are predicted to experience thunderstorms both in the morning and later in the day. The southern regions will have cloudy skies in the morning, followed by rains throughout the day.

NiMet has cautioned that strong winds may precede the rains in areas likely to experience thunderstorms and advised the public to take adequate precautions. Airline operators are also urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.
