Controversial veteran singer Eedris Abdulkareem has voiced strong opinions about the current generation of Nigerian musicians, accusing them of selfishness and exploiting the efforts of their predecessors.

In an interview with SRTV, Abdulkareem, known for his hit "Jaga Jaga," urged contemporary artists to leverage their platforms to address societal issues rather than promoting superficial content.

"The younger generation of [Nigerian] musicians are not ready," Abdulkareem stated. "They are just there to capitalize on what we worked for and make money for themselves. They are very selfish people."

He expressed concern that these musicians believe they can easily escape any potential crisis by using their Visas, but reminded them that their extended families, who may not have such privileges, would still face the consequences.

"They feel they and their family have Visas to flee the country if a crisis arises but they should remember that their extended family members don’t have Visas. They will all die here. So, don’t be selfish. Use your music to talk about ills in the society as much as you are using your music to promote frivolities," Abdulkareem admonished.

His remarks have sparked discussions about the role of artists in societal change and the responsibilities that come with their influence.
