The tragic discovery of Joel Waksi, an esteemed On-Air Personality (OAP) with Atar Communication's Liberty TV/Radio, has sent shockwaves through the media community in Abuja. Waksi, who went missing for five days, was found deceased near the Panteka neighborhood, his body bearing signs of a fatal neck wound.

According to Balarabe Muhammad, Group General Manager of Atar Communication, Waksi left the office on Friday, June 14, around 9 p.m. and was expected back the following day at their Mpape office by 2 p.m. His absence prompted concern, leading to a search that tragically concluded with the discovery of his body on Wednesday, June 19.

Muhammad, speaking to Daily Trust, confirmed that Waksi's body was recovered by the Mpape police and subsequently transferred to Kubwa General Hospital morgue. He noted that Waksi had been a victim of a previous attack two months earlier, surviving a stabbing incident below the abdomen.

"It is suspected that he was attacked by phone snatchers," Muhammad stated, highlighting the potential motive behind the assault. He added that despite surviving the previous attack, Waksi's tragic demise underscores the dangers faced by journalists and residents alike in the city.

"As of now, SP Josephine Adeh of the FCT police command has not provided further details on the incident," Muhammad mentioned, indicating ongoing police investigations into the circumstances surrounding Waksi's death.

The loss of Joel Waksi has prompted an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and friends, as the community seeks justice and answers amidst the grief over his untimely passing.
