NiMet Forecasts Thundery & Rainy Weather Across Nigeria From Sunday To Tuesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting thundery and rainy conditions from Sunday through Tuesday across various regions of the country.

According to the forecast released on Saturday, morning thunderstorms are expected on Sunday in parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, Adamawa, Jigawa, Taraba, and Kaduna states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated in Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, and Taraba states.

The central states, including Plateau, Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, and Niger, are also forecasted to experience morning thunderstorms. In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are likely to continue over Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory.

For the southern cities, morning rains are expected in parts of Imo, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Lagos states. In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms accompanied by rains are anticipated over Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Imo, Ebonyi, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Lagos states.

On Monday, NiMet predicts early morning thunderstorms in Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Jigawa, Taraba, and Kaduna states. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are likely in Taraba, Adamawa, Zamfara, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano, Bauchi, and Kaduna states.

Central states such as Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, and Nasarawa will see early morning thunderstorms, with afternoon and evening storms expected in Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory. Morning rains are forecasted in Ekiti, Imo, and Cross River states, with further rainfall in the afternoon and evening over Abia, Imo, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Rivers states.

By Tuesday, morning thunderstorms are expected in Taraba, Adamawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Bauchi, and Kaduna states, with widespread thunderstorms anticipated across the northern region later in the day. Morning storms are forecasted for the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger states, with continued thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

The southern region will see cloudy skies, with morning rains in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states, and further rain expected in the afternoon and evening across the entire region.

NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions as strong winds might precede the thunderstorms in certain areas. Additionally, airline operators are urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.
