The reconciliation between veteran actor Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande) and prolific filmmaker Tunde Kelani, facilitated by the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), marks a significant moment in Nigerian film and theatre history.

This reconciliation ends a 30-year-long feud attributed to royalty issues from the 1993 hit film "Ti Oluwa Ni Ile." The intervention was orchestrated by Dotun Taylor, the Ooni's Asoju Asa Oodua and head of Aroba Groove, an international artistic organization.

This significant event not only signifies personal forgiveness and professional unity but also paves the way for a highly anticipated stage adaptation of "Ti Oluwa Ni Ile," titled 'ASIYANBI: TI OLUWA NI ILE'. This adaptation is an initiative of Mr. Taylor’s AROBA GROOVE and promises to make history with its performance. Both parties have expressed gratitude to the Ooni and acknowledged Mr. Taylor's crucial role in their reconciliation, emphasizing the role of cultural diplomacy in resolving conflicts and promoting national unity.

Originally written in 1987 and turned into a cinematic masterpiece in 1993, "Ti Oluwa Ni Ile" captured audiences with its compelling themes of intrigue and justice. Baba Wande's lead role in the film, released by Mainframe Films and Television Productions, contributed to its success as one of the best-selling Yoruba movies ever. The reconciliation and upcoming stage adaptation promise to revive and celebrate this iconic story in a new light.

I am so happy to read this as I was disappointed with the way Kelani allegedly reneged on contractual agreement and cheated Baba Wande out of money promised to him for his lead role in those movies; despite the movies being hugely commercially successful at the time. I even openly criticised Tunde Kelani about his short-changing of Alhaji Kareem Adepoju on the matter a few years ago following his interview appearance on Mogbede TV or so. Now, please let bygone be bygone. God bless Dotun Taylor for initiating this move.
