A video has emerged of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio making a derogatory statement to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDPD Kogi Central Rep ) on the floor of the Senate over a matter of speaking without being recognized.
This incident occurred on Thursday 18 June, 2024, during a plenary proceedings . Akpabio had put the second reading of a bill to a voice vote. While Akpabio was still contemplating on the next decision to take on the bill, Senator Natasha rose to explain why the senators were voting against the second reading of the bill.
She said: "Mr President, we dont want it to be killed, we just want a bit of modification"
But the Senate President was quick to response, in his words
Distinguished Senator Natasha, in the chamber, you have to be recognized before you speak, we are not in the nightclub"
