Fishermen in the Odi community of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area have made a notable catch by capturing a manatee, a marine mammal also known as a sea cow.
The manatee was taken on the afternoon of Friday, July 19, 2024, according to reports from Niger Delta Insider.
Manatees, which are fully aquatic creatures, are listed as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They face significant threats including habitat loss, boat collisions, and pollution, which jeopardize their survival.
