
In a decisive operation, the Nigerian Army announced the successful dismantling and destruction of a terrorist camp associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The operation, conducted on Saturday, took place in the Ezere Forest of Umuawa Aku, Okigwe Local Government Area, Imo State.
The army's official statement, posted on their X account, detailed the early morning mission which extended into the Akawa Nnneato and Lomara communities in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. During the operation, troops captured a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and other critical items.
Based on credible intelligence regarding the harassment and intimidation of local residents by the terrorists, the troops mobilized swiftly to neutralize the threat. Upon reaching the camp, they engaged the terrorists in a fierce gunfight, successfully driving them out.
The fleeing terrorists left behind a significant cache of arms, including the GPMG, various rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, and two communication radios. The operation has been hailed as a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region's residents.
