As the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests enter their fourth day, demonstrators in Jos, Plateau State, have announced plans to conduct a Sunday service at the protest site, underscoring their resolve to continue their activism.

The protests, which began on August 1, 2024, aim to address issues of poor governance across Nigeria. On the third day of demonstrations, large crowds gathered, blocking the Yakubu Gowon Way near the Old Airport Junction, as protesters continued to voice their demands for change.

Demonstrators have emphasized their dedication to the cause by organizing a Sunday service at the protest ground, highlighting their commitment to maintaining momentum in their fight for better governance.

In a display of unity across religious lines, SaharaReporters earlier noted that the protests have brought together Nigerians of different faiths. Videos circulated online showing Christian protesters in Lagos and Osun states providing protection for their Muslim counterparts during Juma'at prayers. In the Ojota area of Lagos, protesters formed a human barricade around Muslims as they prayed on Friday, the second day of demonstrations. A similar scene unfolded in Osogbo, Osun State, showcasing a rare moment of interfaith solidarity in Nigeria.

This cooperation reflects the collective spirit that has emerged from the protests, even as tensions and hardships persist for the demonstrators.

A situation report by the United Action Front of Civil Society revealed the toll of the nationwide protests, with 21 people reported dead and 1,154 arrested by security forces. The report, released on Friday by Olawale Okunniyi, Head of the Coordinating Secretariat for the United Action Front of Civil Society, also noted that 175 individuals have been injured since the protests began.

The ongoing protests continue to draw significant attention, both domestically and internationally, as demonstrators call for meaningful reforms and improved governance in Nigeria.
