Despite President Bola Tinubu's call for an end to nationwide protests over the high cost of living, demonstrators in Edo State gathered on Sunday morning to attend a live church service and continue their movement. The protesters, assembling at Agho Junction on Ekenhuan Road, Benin City, prayed for divine intervention in addressing the country's current crises.
President Tinubu addressed the nation on Sunday, expressing sorrow over the violence and destruction of property resulting from the protests, which have been partly hijacked by hoodlums. He urged the youth to suspend the demonstrations, highlighting various measures the Federal Government has taken to alleviate economic hardship and stating that the country's economy is on the path to recovery.
However, Tinubu's speech was met with widespread criticism from Nigerians who felt that the president did not adequately address their demands. Protesters continue to express their dissatisfaction, emphasizing the need for more effective solutions to the issues they face.
