Protesters in Kaduna have defied a 24-hour curfew imposed by the Kaduna State Security Council, continuing demonstrations on the seventh day of the #EndBadGovernance protest.
The curfew, announced by the state government on Monday, was meant to curb the nationwide hunger protests, which began last Thursday but reportedly escalated due to the involvement of hoodlums causing violence and looting.
Despite the restrictions, demonstrators assembled at various locations, including the front of Kaduna Polytechnic and Fidelity Bank in Tudun Wada, a suburb in Kaduna South Local Government Area. This defiance indicates strong public sentiment against the perceived failures of governance and the handling of the economic crisis.
Meanwhile, there is heavy presence of security operatives including police officers at the venue of the demonstration, manning strategic positions to prevent the protesters from advancing through the location.
Like Kaduna, demonstrations are also ongoing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and some other parts of the country.
