The popular Abuja-based cross-dresser known as "Area Mama" was tragically murdered in Abuja on August 8, 2024. He was found lifeless and covered with bruises, indicating that he had been severely beaten before his death. This incident occurred just hours after he had stepped out the previous night​.

Area Mama had previously faced violence and harassment due to his lifestyle. About a year ago, he was publicly assaulted by a group of men after a dispute with a taxi driver, which left him with significant injuries​ .

His death has sparked outrage and sadness, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by individuals in the LGBTQ+ community in Nigeria.

I don't know him sha, but this one touch me, no one deserves to go through this painful death, everyone deserves to live the kind of life they choose, I urge the Nigeria police to live sentiments aside and fish out the bastards that murdered him
