Renowned Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has shared the harrowing story of how she called off her wedding just two days before the scheduled ceremony due to her fiancé's abusive behavior.
Speaking on the 'Talk To B' podcast, hosted by fellow actress Biola Bayo, Nwosu recounted the painful experience that led her to make the difficult decision. She revealed that her ex-partner physically assaulted her while she was pregnant, an incident that made her rethink the future she was about to enter.
"For me, infidelity isn’t enough to let go of your man," Nwosu explained. "But if it’s battery, I advise any woman to run for her life because they will never stop. Once a man lifts his hand on you, he won’t stop."
The 61-year-old actress disclosed that the turning point came just two days before the wedding, when her fiancé subjected her to what she described as "the beating of her life." The incident, she said, was a stark warning of what her life could become if she went through with the marriage.
"I was pregnant then, and I thought to myself, is this what I’m entering into? Because he had never done it before," Nwosu recounted, adding that while she initially regretted her decision, she later realized it was the best choice for her safety and future.
Nwosu's candid revelation highlights the often-overlooked issue of domestic abuse and the difficult choices victims must make to protect themselves. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing one's safety in relationships, regardless of societal pressures or personal regrets.
