Briefing news men in his office, the Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Abdulkadir Mohammed Indabawa, said that, “at about 1pm today, a gang of hoodlums numbering 15 and fully armed stormed the Darazo Police Division and opened fire on the policemen on duty at the station and the men on duty responded.”
He added that while the exchange of fire was going on at the police station, another group of armed robbers attacked a branch of the First Bank of Nigeria Plc in the town opening fire on the security men there . The police boss said, “the armed policemen and private security men at the bank responded promptly and the robbers could not gain entrance into the bank, so the bank was not robbed and so no kobo was stolen from there.”
