Two suspected kidnappers, on Wednesday, met their waterloo in Warri, Delta State, as angry mob killed them after a failed attempt to abduct a woman and her child.

One of the suspects was lynched by the angry mob, while the corpse of the other was immediately recovered by the police before he was set ablaze.

The two suspects were killed at different locations as they ran in opposite directions to escape while two others, it was learnt, escaped into thin air, despite spirited attempt by police and youths to apprehend them.

The Nigerian Tribune observed that one of the unidentified suspects was burnt to death at Eboh by Upper Erejuwa junction, while the other was beaten to death at Ogboru.

It was gathered that four of the suspects had attempted to kidnap the woman, who was said to be driving a Toyota Camry car, accompanied by her child on Eboh road but the alarm raised by their victim attracted a police patrol team and passersby.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the police patrol team chased the suspects and with the help of youths in the area apprehended the two, while the others escaped.

Effort by the police to take the suspect away, an eyewitness disclosed, was resisted by the mob, who insisted in meting out jungle justice on them because of the increasing cases of daily kidnapping in the state.

Meanwhile, residents of Sapele and neigh-bouring communities in Delta State can now heave a sigh of relief as a notorious robbery and kidnap suspect, one Isaiah Orumah, was shot dead.

The suspect, who had been on the state police command wanted list, was gunned down at Ibada, on Sapele-Warri road after a gun duel with the police.

Confirming the killing of the robbery suspect, on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Asp Charles Muka, said other members of the gang, who escaped into the bush during the encounter, were also on the wanted list of the police for sundry cases.

One locally made cut to size single barrel gun, two live cartridges and a hand bag were recovered from the criminals.

Hundreds of youths thronged the Eboh by Upper Erejuwa junction to have a glimpse of the corpses of the dead kidnappers before they were eventually removed by the police from "B" Divison, Warri.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Charles Muka, confirmed the incident and disclosed that two cut to size double barrel guns were retrieved from the suspects.

He said detectives were on the trail of the fleeing kidnappers, assuring that they would be arrested soon.
