Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has announced the indefinite postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in the state due to the recent surge in fuel prices.

The announcement was made in a memo issued by Ojo Akin-Longe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

"The Edo State Government hereby announces that the resumption of all public and private schools in Edo State, initially scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, has been postponed until further notice,"
the statement read.

The decision was taken in response to growing concerns and challenges caused by the recent fuel price hike, which has affected the daily lives of residents across the state.
