In a significant breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts, Nigerian Army troops have rescued 13 students kidnapped by terrorists in Kaduna State. The operation, which unfolded in Chigbolu village, Kachia Local Government Area, involved a fierce gunfight with insurgents.
According to a statement released on Friday, September 13, 2024, the rescued individuals include six males and seven females. The Army's aggressive offensive was launched following credible intelligence that led to a successful raid on terrorist strongholds.
The statement detailed that on September 12, 2024, troops executed a meticulously planned operation targeting extremist camps. During the confrontation at Chigbolu village, the soldiers engaged in a violent clash with the terrorists, who eventually fled, abandoning their captives.
In addition to rescuing the students, the operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial arsenal, including one AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of 7.63mm ammunition, four magazines, a locally fabricated rifle, and N192,220 in cash. Also recovered were five solar panels, five mobile phones, dry rations, and various clothing items.
The rescued students have been transported to 1 Division Medical Services and Hospital for immediate medical care. The Nigerian Army continues its commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of civilians in the region.
