Two men delivering ransom for the release of victims abducted from Guaraka community in Niger State were killed by bandits, authorities confirmed on Saturday, September 14.

The tragic incident unfolded after bandits raided a hotel in Guaraka on August 19, 2024, taking hostages that included the hotel owner, his younger brother, his wife, the manager, and three other guests.

Abubakar Sani, also known as Nda Abu, and Ibrahim Garba Shere, referred to as Alhaji Tapki, were sent with the ransom money to secure the hostages' release. However, upon delivering the payment to the bandits, the two men were killed.

The victims were buried on September 14, with Hon. Muhammad Sani, the member representing Tafa Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly, attending the funeral. In his tribute, Hon. Sani expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and the community, honoring the victims as heroes whose memories will be cherished.

The incident has heightened concerns about security in the region, as local authorities and residents grapple with the impact of the recent violence.
