Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has officially denied reports circulating that President Tinubu requested Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso's resignation due to the rapid depreciation of the naira.

Onanuga dismissed these rumors as false, countering earlier claims that suggested the President was unhappy with Cardoso's handling of the nation's currency crisis.

This clarification follows increasing public attention on the naira's significant decline, which has fueled speculation about the central bank's leadership.

Reacting via his X handle, Onanuga wrote

‘’It’s all lies. President Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign.''
