The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to key into various intervention programmes it has designed to ease the impact of recent policy changes, especially the removal of fuel subsidy.

This is even as the government has said that the removal of fuel subsidy was necessary, though it has brought challenges to Nigerians.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who said this in Umuahia on Tuesday during a sensitization programme on Federal government’s intervention policies, explained that Federal government is committed to cushioning the effects of the subsidy removal.

The minister, who was represented by Gloria Ify Abiakam, the Head of Centre, Abia (FIC) , explained that several programs have been rolled out to create job opportunities, bring economic growth and enhance quality of lives, adding that the government is dedicated to the welfare and upliftment of the citizens.

Idris listed the intervention programmes to include student loan scheme, consumer credit corporation, Compressed Natural Gas Initiative and Digital and Creative Enterprises (DICE)

The Minister also said that Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA) National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP), housing initiatives, micro and micro and small business loans, among others

“The removal of the fuel subsidy, while necessary, has undoubtedly brought about challenges that many of us are feeling deeply. But today, I am here to share the good news that your government is not blind to these challenges, nor are we indifferent,” the minister said.

He advised all the state and local governments in the country to actively disseminate information about these initiatives and ensure that citizens across all regions are fully aware and encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities.
