President Bola Tinubu has stated that his primary focus is on restructuring Nigeria's economy, not the upcoming 2027 general elections. He emphasized his dedication to ensuring long-term economic benefits for the Nigerian people, urging patience with his administration’s efforts.

This declaration came amid growing support for Tinubu’s potential re-election bid, with several prominent figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) voicing their backing. Among those showing support were former APC national chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as governors from Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti states—Dapo Abiodun, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji, respectively.

The comments were made during the 2024 South West Assembly of the APC, held on Saturday in Victoria Island, Lagos, and hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, who also serves as the party’s zonal coordinator. The gathering drew party leaders and stakeholders from across the South-West, including senators, members of the House of Representatives, state legislators, local government officials, and senior party representatives.

Former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi delivered the keynote address, describing President Tinubu as a "listening leader" with a strong resolve to steer the nation toward success. Represented by his chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu urged Nigerians to stay patient, reiterating his administration’s commitment to genuine progress for the country.
