Currently on bail from a Kaduna Magistrate Court for allegedly molesting another six-year-old girl in December, 2010, the suspect went back to his nefarious act, even when the first case was yet to be disposed off.
The suspect, who is a watch repairer has a shop in front of his last victim’s father’s compound.
He was said to have tricked the 12-year-old girl on the pretext of sending her on an errand to his wife. No sooner than the victim started walking towards his house, than he followed her and instead of allowing her to go into his house, lured her into a small shop where he directed her to pull off her clothing and lie down. The victim refused to comply but allegedly pinned her to the wall and raped her. However, the suspect alleged that the girl lured him into the act:
“I have been warning her to stop playing with me while am in my shop in front of their house. Even the day she said she wanted to go and see my wife, I stopped her but she insisted and I had no option than to follow her but she refused to go into the house. “So, I had no option than to take her to the shop and had to rape her standing. Not knowing that some youth around were monitoring my movements. While in the act, they rushed in picked my cloths and dumped it inside water and raised the alarm which attracted other crowds. I was taken to Kawo Police Station and from there to the state Police Headquarters (CID).”
The suspect who hails from Sokoto State denied the first charge that led him into the police net of molesting a six-year-old girl: “It is a plan by some people to land me into problem.” But he accepted molesting the 12-year-old.
Married to two wives, one of them two-month pregnant, the suspect said “nature cannot be cheated so that day the way the victim was playing with me I had no option, but now Iam pleading for mercy.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Aminu Lawal, said the suspect is a well known rapist in that area: “In fact, last December he was here and because it was the plea of one of the wives who sold everything she had including her mattress in order to secure his bail, the first time. “The command had compassion on her with a belief that her husband will turn a new leaf but now that he is back in our net we will make sure that the law takes its cause. Even the way he is talking means that he has not shown any remorse, he is accusing the 12-year-old victim of encouraging him to rape her.
“The medical report obtained from Barau Dikko Hospital shows penetration and the command is bringing out his old file to compare it together and charge him to court to face the music.” Lawal described the act by the suspect as dastardly and evil, “because this is a girl who was born in your presence and for more than 12 years the family of the victim gave him a shop to carry out a trade in order to cater for his family. “By now he should be one of the family members protecting the children and not the one luring the children into ungodly act. Let me use this opportunity to call on parents to watch the company kept by their wards and report any suspicious moves.”
Similarly, a teenag street hawker is in the police net for molesting a seven-year-old girl. The suspect who said this was his first and would be the last blamed the devil for his action. The teenager who is from Zamfara State said: “On February 16, 2011, I was carrying out my trade of selling women under wears but when I saw her at the Kawo railway crossing.
I don’t know the devil that came over me I called her and promised to give her new underwear.
“At first, she was resistant but later she followed me to a corner and I brought one pant for her to wear and I promised to help her to put it on. But I don’t know what actually happened because I found myself on top of her. I only realized what I have done when my segxwal urge subsided.”
He was arrested on February 16, and currently undergoing interrogation at the CID Kaduna State Police Headquarters. The PPRO said immediately investigation is concluded the suspect would be charged to court.
