Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa State, has strongly denied allegations linking him to an illicit affair with a married woman. This comes after the Kano State Hisbah Board confirmed Sankara’s arrest in connection with the incident on Friday.
According to Dr. Abba Sufi, Director General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sankara was arrested alongside a married woman in an uncompleted building after a complaint was lodged by her brother-in-law. Sufi further stated that Sankara is facing multiple charges, including operating illicit drug centers under the names Picklock and 360.
In a statement released on Friday night, Sankara dismissed the accusations, describing them as false, malicious, and an attempt to tarnish his image. He urged the public to disregard the claims, which he said were fabricated by political elements seeking to damage his reputation.
"My attention has been drawn to a recent media report alleging that I have been arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command on charges of having an affair with a married woman. I categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious," Sankara said.
He emphasized his respect for the institution of marriage, saying, "As a married man, I have the utmost respect for the sanctity of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate it."
Sankara also announced his intention to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the allegations. "I am taking this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those disseminating this false information and attempting to harm my person," he added.
The case has drawn significant attention, with investigations ongoing to determine the truth behind the allegations.
