Gombe State Police Command has apprehended a man identified as Jonathan James on suspicion of murdering his 65-year-old aunt, Ramatu Musa, in the Badagaza Quarters area of Gombe. The command’s spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Friday, October 25, 2024.
According to Abdullahi, James allegedly fatally stabbed Musa in the chest with a knife in the early hours of October 21. The police received a distress call at around 2:15 a.m., reporting the incident.
“Upon receiving the information, a patrol team from the Pantami Division, led by ASP Girema Yahaya, responded swiftly, arriving at the scene to find the victim with serious chest injuries. She was transported to Gombe Specialist Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her dead on arrival,” the statement said.
Officers visited the crime scene and recovered a knife believed to be used in the attack. The suspect, now in custody, faces imminent prosecution on charges related to the alleged murder.
