Fr. Angelo Chidi Unegbu, a Nigerian Catholic priest, has voiced strong criticism of certain practices within Nigerian Christianity, calling for a renewed focus on compassion and support for the needy. In a Facebook post on Friday, Unegbu expressed frustration over individuals who prioritize tithing while overlooking the suffering of those around them.

Quote
"Tithing is meant to ensure that the poor are not left hungry,"
he wrote.
Quote
"Yet, people claim that tithing is working for them while those around them go without food. Our version of Christianity is sick. I detest it with passion."

Unegbu’s comments have sparked discussions on the role of charity and community support in religious practices, urging believers to align their faith more closely with actions of kindness and empathy toward those in need.
