The Delta State Police Command has expressed condolences to the family of Precious Yusuf, a 23-year-old woman whose body was discovered along DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club in Asaba, on October 24.
According to SP Bright Edafe, spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, officers responded promptly to a distress call at 8:40 a.m. and arrived on the scene with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Rex Abiodun. The investigation revealed that Precious had told her friend on October 22 that she was meeting a male friend she connected with on a dating website. She was last heard from on October 23, around 7:30 a.m., when she told her friend she was returning home. Her body was found the following day.
The deceased’s body has been moved to a local mortuary, where it awaits an autopsy. Delta State Police Commissioner CP Olufemi Abaniwonda assured the family that a full investigation is underway, adding that all efforts will be made to deliver justice.
In his statement, Commissioner Abaniwonda urged young women to be vigilant, particularly with new acquaintances met online or on social media, stressing the importance of safety in such interactions.
