In a distressing incident, gunmen have reportedly kidnapped Emeason Chima, an official with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in Enugu State. The abduction occurred on Saturday near Maduka University in Nsukka while Chima was driving alone in his vehicle.
According to a senior FRSC official, who requested anonymity, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N50 million for Chima’s safe return. The internal memo circulated within the agency confirms that the assailants contacted the FRSC using Chima’s phone shortly after the abduction.
“The Command has received information about the kidnap of SRMA Emeason Chima,” stated Emmanuel Al-Hassan, the commander of the Ugbokolo unit, in the memo. “The incident took place on the road leading from Maduka University through OPI junction. Initial reports indicate that the staff member was driving alone in a Toyota saloon car when he was attacked.”
As the investigation continues, authorities have not yet disclosed any further developments regarding the kidnapping or the ongoing efforts to secure Chima's release. The FRSC has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
