Former Nigerian Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has taken to social media to criticize British politician Kemi Badenoch for her comments about Nigeria, referring to her as a “little girl” for what he described as disparaging remarks aimed at Nigerians in her campaign for leadership of the UK’s Conservative Party.
Though born in Wimbledon, the British-Nigerian MP for North West Essex spent much of her childhood in Nigeria before returning to the UK as a teenager. Currently campaigning to succeed former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as Conservative leader, Badenoch has spoken about her experiences in Nigeria, often describing challenges faced during her time there.
In an interview with *MailOnline*, Badenoch, 44, explained her commitment to Britain, stating, “I don’t want it to become like the place I ran away from,” describing her loyalty and willingness to fight for her country. Recounting her memories, she detailed disturbing incidents she recalled from her youth in Nigeria, including fears surrounding neighborhood attacks, which contributed to her critical perspective.
Fani-Kayode, responding on his X account on Saturday, October 26, 2024, took issue with her remarks, urging her to “leave [Nigeria] out of your pretty yet stinking mouth.” The former minister expressed frustration over what he called a “self-righteous” stance, challenging Badenoch to “stay in the place you ‘ran away from’ and try to fix it.”
