In a tragic incident in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, a Nigerian man, Muftau Adefalu, has been detained by police following the death of his ex-wife, Yetunde Olayiwole. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest, indicating that an investigation is underway.

The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, told *PUNCH Online* on Saturday that the incident took place on Friday, November 1, at around 8:00 p.m. Adefalu, 37, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with Olayiwole, which escalated into a physical scuffle. According to police reports, Olayiwole collapsed during the altercation and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel later declared her dead.

“The man had a misunderstanding with his ex-wife, which resulted in a fight. She slumped during the scuffle and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention,” Odutola explained. The victim’s body has been taken to Ifo General Hospital for an autopsy, and the suspect remains in custody as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation.

This incident follows another case of domestic violence in Ibadan, Oyo State, where 39-year-old Olusegun Tinubu was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, Comfort Tinubu, last week. The police have detained Comfort Tinubu, and an investigation into that case is also ongoing.

Authorities have expressed concerns over the recent rise in domestic violence cases, urging couples to seek help in managing conflicts.
