A tragic altercation at a scrap market in Mpape, Abuja, has resulted in the death of 19-year-old Sefilahi Danlami, allegedly killed by fellow scrap workers on Friday afternoon. The incident, which caused significant commotion, took place around 2:30 p.m. at the Pantaker Market in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to eyewitnesses, the violence began when 22-year-old Ibrahim Dahiru, accusing Danlami of theft, allegedly orchestrated an attack involving several other individuals armed with dangerous weapons. Danlami reportedly succumbed to his injuries after being stabbed during the assault.
A source familiar with the incident revealed, “At 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the Pantaker Market, Ibrahim Dahiru, along with a group of other scrap workers, confronted Danlami, whom he accused of stealing. The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in Danlami’s tragic death.”
Confirming the incident, FCT Police Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh reported that police responded to a distress call about the fatal attack. Adeh stated, “Upon receiving a distress call regarding a case of culpable homicide at the Panteka Market in Mpape, our operatives arrived at the scene and arrested one suspect, identified as Ibrahim Dahiru, aged 22.”
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Dahiru allegedly mobilized seven accomplices, who are currently at large, to carry out the fatal attack. The police have launched an intensive investigation to track down the remaining suspects and further clarify the details of the incident. Authorities assured the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
