Elon Musk mother, Maye Musk, 76, has faced backlash after making a controversial comment about the ethnicity of a reporter.
She criticized New York Times tech reporter Ryan Mac, accusing him of planning to publish a “hit piece” on her son, Elon Musk, in the wake of the presidential election.

Elon Musk has been open about his support for Donald Trump, and he and Trump have developed a close relationship in the final months of the campaign, making appearances together at rallies across the country.

On Tuesday night, Maye Musk wrote on X, “I’ve heard there is going to be an Elon hit piece by @RMac18 in the [New York Times] tomorrow. Sadly, Ryan is an American Vietnamese reporter.”Elon Musk's mother sparks controversy with 'racist' tweet

The comment was quickly deleted, but another journalist shared it online and criticized Maye’s statement.

The journalist responded, “For the record, Ryan Mac was born and raised in California. Not that it matters. Calling out a reporter for their ethnic heritage is never appropriate… He also won a Polk Award. No one should ever bet on his stories being inaccurate.”
