Which Party are you in and which post are you running for?
I am a member of the ACTION CONGRESS OF NIGERIA… Ribadu’s party. Tinubu’s party… Ngige’s party. ACN is the major opposition party in Nigeria today. I am contesting for the IDEMILI NORTH seat in my ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY. If you can make your independent investigations, you will agree with me that my local government (Idemili north) belongs to ACN, courtesy Dr. Chris Ngige.
Why did you decide to leave a successful career in entertainment and veer into Politics?
What makes u think I can’t do better as a politician? As a matter of fact.., what is your yardstick for “successful career”? My sister.., I believe I have a lot to offer my people in the state assembly. The people we sent there all disappointed us. No… I am not leaving entertainment. I NEVER will. I just feel I have something to offer my people. Do you know that all I have ever been known for is a major part of what I am offering my local government? I will liberate the youth of Idemili north by giving them direction and discovering music and movie talents from there. Is anybody born a POLITICIAN? Every politician was something else first. Please…, let’s appreciate talented people among us who step out to serve. It is not a mistake. Arnold Shwarzenegger had a bubbling career in Hollywood before becoming California Governor. So what I am doing is normal and worthy of applaud.
During my research for my last article about you, I came across many things that portray you as a born again, are you really a born Again?
I believe in the HOLY TRINITY (Chukwu Nna, Chukwu Nwa na Chukwu Monso). All my life, I’ve known God.., I’ve depended on Him, I have believed in Him. Even when I lost my father at a tender age, only God could have seen me through life till today. I am a sinner, but a self confessed child of GOD.
People call Politics a dirty Game, and with you being in politics now, how would you describe it?
Life in itself is dirty. Even without politics, people still kill, maim and destroy each other. Even the bible describes the heart of man as “desperately wicked”. So what are we saying about politics being a dirty game? There are far dirtier games than politics. See… Politics is about interests. Some people paint the picture of DANGER to scare good people away. Politics is a decent game that ideally should be played by intelligent people in the society.
We use to know you as a Nollywood Celebrity; do you feel more like a politician now?
Nollywood belongs to us. I am a shareholder in Nollywood and will always be. U know one good thing about acting, writing, directing etc.., is that u play the part that is your current age. There is no age limit. Once God has blessed u with the talent.., u have it (U own it) for life. I will always be a Nollywood celebrity because I won’t stop making movies. If you like, you can call me a politician… it’s okay.., but aren’t we all politicians? Life is all about politics. I mean.., there is a bit of politics in anything you do in life my dear.
During my research for my article on you, I came across one of your statements. In it you said that you’ll never promise your people what you cannot do. Have you finally known what to promise them?
Yeah… Of course, in that same statement, I said my crews are articulating what we will do for my people. I will labor in the areas of Youth empowerment, elderly and child care. Of course there is water, employment, security and healthcare. But I think I can generate jobs via Youth projects in the areas of entertainment and leisure. I know exactly what I am saying. I shot my first movie in 1999 (self funded) and discovered some actors who are stars today, married and living a good life. In addition to the above.., of course, my oversight fun actions will not suffer one bit.
Talking about the glory of God shinning through you to the poor according to one of your messages, how do you plan to achieve that?
My logo is LUKE 1:37. It simply says “For with God.., NOTHING shall be impossible”. I have committed this entire project to the ALPHA & OMEGA.., The AUTHOR & FINISHER. You will witness His glory upon the masses of Idemili North. Just follow me.
Sure, NOLLYWOODGOSSIP will be following you all the way. Many People are against PDP, what is your opinion towards the party?
I guess these days, the evil that men do, lives with them. People Deceiving People…, that’s what I call them, because they are full of Abrakadabra. Even APGA is the latest magician…. Did you hear that they adopted the candidacy of Goodluck Jonathan? That’s the last nail on the coffin of APGA. There is serious lack of self confidence in APGA whom by the way only exists now in Anambra state (and will be extinct after Peter Obi’s exit). All their candidates are PDP drop outs. The only credible party in Nigeria today is ACN. Our people are not dumb. You will see what will happen in April.
Do you think that there will ever be a better Nigeria, if yes, what do you think the new Government needs to do to achieve that?
Nigeria will certainly get better. The developed countries at one stage were like Nigeria. So there is no cause for alarm. All we need is more prayers for God’s mercy. Our people are so wickedly self centered. A man wants to own the whole world. (E no easy). We need selfless leaders…just like in Western world where Ministers lives in flats. That’s all Naija needs….Leaders that are not greedy.
President Jonathan Goodluck has been informing us about the developments towards Electricity in Nigeria, do you think that he will ever achieve that and what advice do you have for him in that section?
He can achieve it…. But will he? Goodluck Jonathan is not the problem. The problem is the people he puts in charge. Corruption has eaten deep into our system. That’s why the NEPA problem has lingered for years like leprosy. Jonathan is also a slow mover. He is not volatile. He comes across like a peaceful man. Does Nigeria need a “peaceful man” to make that desired change? Your guess is as good as mine sister.
What areas do you think needed to be treated first in your local Government and what will you do towards achieving that?
Youth empowerment and redirection! There are many misguided guys and gals languishing in uselessness in my local government area and I want to step into their lives with a mission to correct. Then there is the immediate need of water. Do you know that there is no government water (from water board) in Idemili north? Everywhere you see clean water is borehole water. My sister, plenty work dey ooo. If I tell you that it’s going to be easy work then I will be lying, but I know that with God we will make a great turn around.
I left this question for last because some how I feel it’s the most important one. They say that to win an election and actually touch the lives of the people, a person must have some experience in politics. Do you have any experience in politics?
I became an active politician in 2005 when I joined the PDP and tried to get this house of assembly ticket in 2007 but it turned out to be “abrakadaabraad” and I left them to join the ACN. Experience is a canopy. I guess I have come a long way…, or don’t you think so? Point of information; … You only need experience in politics to win your primaries. The main election is in the hands of the voters. If you market yourself very well and convince them…, you are a winner. Hey, I guess it’s also time to put my academic qualifications to test. Who’s my godfather? GOD Of course, I have a leader in Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige (The Authentic Igbo Leader)., but JEHOVA NISSI is the ultimate.
