A 76-year old man identified as Bala Mohammed was on Thursday docked before Chief Magistrate Court 5 in Bauchi for allegedly posting pictures of women who he claimed are his girlfriends who he has slept with on Facebook.
Bala Mohammed, a resident of Tambari Housing Estate, was charged with defamation of character.
The prosecutor, ASP Zakari Mohammed, informed the court that he committed the offense in October 2024.
According to the police Mohammed posted pictures of several women, claiming they were his girlfriends with whom he had segxwal relationships.
However, one of the women who was the complainant (name withheld) in the case against Mohammed however, stated that she had merely taken a selfie with the defendant and had no affair with him.
The prosecutor argued that the defendant’s actions violated sections 183, 196, 388, and 389 of the Bauchi State Penal Code 2022.
The Magistrate, Mrs Laraba Hamisu did not take plea of Mohammed.
She ordered his remand at the Bauchi Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to November 27, 2024, to allow for further investigation.
