A mass burial has been held for the fifteen victims of a deadly attack on Mera village in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State, allegedly perpetrated by the newly emerged jihadist group, Lakurawa. The tragedy, which occurred in Nigeria's North-West region, prompted an outpouring of support and solidarity from state officials and traditional leaders.

Among the attendees were Kebbi State Deputy Governor Umar Tafida, the state’s Commissioner of Police, and Emir of Argungu, HRH Isma’ila Mera. Tafida extended condolences on behalf of the state government, assuring grieving families that the administration stands with them and is committed to collaborating with security agencies to prevent further violence.

During the funeral, the Emir of Argungu emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in facing rising security challenges. He called on security forces to intensify their efforts in safeguarding local communities and ensuring stability in the region.

Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the deceased, with calls for ongoing peace and strengthened security. The state government further reassured residents of its commitment to bolstering security measures to protect lives and prevent similar incidents in the future.
