President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Nigeria on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will participate in the upcoming Joint Arab-Islamic Summit. Scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, the summit is expected to address the ongoing Middle East conflict, with an emphasis on the escalating situation between Israel and Palestine.
The announcement was made on Saturday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who revealed that the summit invitation was extended by Saudi leaders, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Following last year’s summit in Riyadh, this year’s gathering aims to advance diplomatic solutions and regional stability.
During his address, President Tinubu is anticipated to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict. He will urge for a revived commitment to the two-state solution as a sustainable pathway toward peace in the region.
Accompanying Tinubu will be key Nigerian officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Amb. Mohammed Mohammed.
