A 21-year-old man is currently hospitalized after reportedly being shot by unidentified police officers in Kubwa, a district within the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. According to popular activist and social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, the incident occurred after the young man allegedly refused to pay N200,000 demanded by the officers.

VeryDarkMan disclosed details of the incident in a video posted on his Facebook page Sunday, showing the injured young man lying in a hospital bed. “This 21-year-old boy was allegedly shot by the police in Kubwa, Abuja, after he couldn’t meet their demand for N200,000,” he stated in the post, expressing concern over the worsening situation.

“Are we supposed to live in fear not only from thieves, armed robbers, and kidnappers but also from the very police force meant to protect us?” he questioned, highlighting the growing distrust between citizens and the police. He described the incident as deeply troubling, saying, “This young boy said the officers approached him, and when he couldn’t produce N200,000, they allegedly opened fire.”

VeryDarkMan also urged both the Force Public Relations Officer and the FCT Police Public Relations Officer to launch an urgent investigation into the incident.
