A suspected vandal, identified as Lekan Olanrewaju, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly vandalizing an electronic road sign on the Five Star Bridge in Oshodi, Lagos.
According to the police, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended the suspect in the early hours of last Wednesday, around 2:00 a.m. Olanrewaju was caught while attempting to remove the battery cables of the electronic sign. The sign is crucial for ensuring road safety, as it alerts motorists using the bridge to reduce their speed.
The arrest is coming a few weeks after the Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Shola Jejeloye deployed patrol team to the area to stem traffic robbery and protect public infrastructure in the area.
“Recovered from the suspect were battery cables and plier.
“The suspect has been charged to court and sentenced to one and a half year,” the command said.
